about me

I am a Human Resources professional with over 15 years experience. I have worked for big organisations including Oxford University and the NHS, and smaller businesses in a range of sectors including education, healthcare, marketing and retail.

I have a BSc in Business, a Master’s in Human Resource Management and I am a Chartered member of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).

I started Bluestone HR because I wanted to work with small businesses who did not have their own HR support and help them to manage their people the best way for their business. I work with clients from across the country in a wide range of sectors, including many clients from the charity and not for profit sectors.

Employing an HR professional is often beyond the means of many small businesses but I can provide you with all the benefits of an HR function at a fraction of the cost. I can offer two different ways of working, either as an ad hoc or retained HR support.

  • Ad hoc support provides you with a flexible, hourly paid support. This can be used for anything from a quick question that you need an answer for, to one off pieces of work such as assistance with an organisational change project.
  • Retained support is my most popular option as it spreads the cost of HR support throughout the year so you can budget accordingly and allows me to build a knowledge of your organisation so we can work together to manage your people.  This is tailored to your company’s size, structure and budget and is usually based on a set number of hours or days a month. Prices start from £140 a month.

Emma kindly supported us through the stressful and challenging experience of having to make staff redundant during the pandemic. She brought her years of HR experience, guiding us expertly through the process in a responsive and efficient way. But she also brought an understanding of the emotional strains both our employees and we were facing, being a small business having to go through an upsetting and distressing period, acting with kindness towards both ourselves and the affected staff members, and going above and beyond the call of duty. I hope we don't have to go through a similar experience again, but if we did there would be no one we would prefer to help navigate the complexities.
